Backstory: Konomi grew up in Osaka. As she was an only child she was spoiled by her parents, her mother being a pastry chef, and her father owning a restaurant that they lived above in an apartment.
Konomi, as a child, was rather plump due to her parents giving her samples of their works aswell as having her help out in trying new pastries and food dishes often. She wasn't picky at all, so she ate anything they gave her and then giving her opinions about them("Mmmm!!! Oishii!" or "...Bleh...Warui...").
Despite her being rather plump, she wasn't teased during her early years in pre-school and middle-school, but she got interested in playing sports very early. Her parents were happy she interested herself in anything, and so they let her go sign up for anything she wanted.
She took up swimming, soccer, baseball and track-running during different times, and ultimately got stuck to swimming and track-running the most as the most fun ones.
It wasn't until early into middle-school she got interested in playing the violin. Konomi had seen a violin concert played by her very talented older cousin which she's been admiring since she could walk, and after that...she had decided to become a violinist.
Her cousin gave her his old violin he'd been planning to sell before she had come up to him to tell him she was going to start playing the violin..and then she started lessons with a very stern and irate teacher at a nearby music-school. Her cousin was so happy at her admiring him and his playing that he gave her a bright yellow ribbon, her favorite colour, as a gift of motivation for her to keep going despite it most likely was going to be hard. He intended for her to wear it in her hair, instead she ties it around her arm since she doesn't like having anything in her hair.
She's not a natural at it...but as she's determined to do well and play as beautifully as her cousin she's yet so far not given up. Between her practising for the swimming and track team in school, she practised the violin and fought hard to improve.
Towards the end of middle-school, she had improved enough in playing to get a scholarship from the music-school she had gone to be taught, and got into Hoshino Gakuen through it.
Konomi was over-joyed and couldn't stop talking about it the whole summer before she would move into the dorms in Tokyo to study something she really wanted.

x Actually pretty mediocre at playing the violin, her forte is actually swimming and track.
